IOS Shortcut Log Weight 

If you are having trouble following the steps below  there is a video bottom of the page demonstrating setting up weight tracking on your iPhone

How to set up IFTTT

 

If you already have an IFTTT account you can skip this step

  1. Go to https://ifttt.com/join

  2. Sign up using your email address

  3. You should now be setup you can continue with the steps below

Set up Applet​

​

  1. Go to https://ifttt.com/create

  2. Click on the plus symbol next to the word "This"

  3. Search services for "Webhooks", click on its icon and then "Connect"

  4. Click "Receive a web request" 

  5. Under event name type log_weight and ensure there are no spaces at the start or end of the text

  6. Press "Create trigger"

  7. Click on the plus symbol next to the word "That"

  8. Search services for "Google sheets" click on its icon and then "Connect"

  9. Sign in to your Google account you are using for the Nutrition tracking sheet and select allow

  10. Select "Add row to spreadsheet"

  11. Under spreadsheet name type weight_rawdata 

  12. Ensure there are no spaces at the start or end of the text

  13. Under formatted row remove all text in the box and paste the following text         {{Value1}} |||{{Value2}} 

  14. Under drive folder path remove all text in the box and paste the following text Nutrition Tracking/rawdata

  15. Ensure there are no spaces at the start or end of the pasted text

  16. Click create action and then finish

  17. Go to https://ifttt.com/maker_webhooks/

  18. Click on "Documentation" in the top right hand corner

  19. Here you will find your Webhook URL under "Make a POST or GET web request to:"

  20. Copy this URL and send it to your iPhone/write it down for a future step

 

The following steps should be completed on your iPhone

How to set up the Shortcuts 

 

  1. The shortcuts app should already be downloaded on iPhone's running IOS 13. If you have deleted this app or you can't find it please go to the app store, search "Shortcuts" and download the app with this icon...​

  2. Open Settings on your iPhone

  3. Tap Shortcuts.

  4. Tap the switch for Allow Untrusted Shortcuts so it's in the green 'on' position. (This is so that you can use a shortcut I have made for you and will not do anything without your permission)

  5. On iPhone's web browser search tiny.cc/logweight or https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/51a5649f7c47429cb0ba46be235be913

  6. Click on "Get shortcut" and it should open up your shortcuts app

  7. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Add Untrusted Shortcut"

  8. Now you need the Webhook URL you obtained in a previous step. Paste this link in the text box and click "Continue"

  9. Click "Done" 

  10. Press the "My shortcuts" tab

  11. Find "Log weight" an press the three dots in the right hand corner

  12. Press the share icon on the bottom row (see image below)

  13. Scroll down and click "Add to home screen"

  14. Click "Add" 

  15. Exit out of the shortcuts app

The following steps should be completed on the device you downloaded your Nutrition Tracking sheet on.

How to set up weight_rawdata

  1. Go to your sheet "weight_rawdata" (this can be found in My drive -> Nutrition Tracking -> rawdata -> weight_rawdata)

  2. Click on "Share" in the top-right corner and select "Get shareable link" 

  3. Copy this URL and open your "Nutrition Tracking" google sheet (found in My drive -> Nutrition Tracking)

  4. Click on the "Settings" tab and paste the URL in the box adjacent to "weight_rawdata"

Now everyday when you step on the scale click on the Log Weight app on your home screen and it will ask you how much you weigh. Enter your weight and click "OK". Your weight will be automatically added to your nutrition tracking spreadsheet
