STEP 3

Set up weight_rawdata

It is strongly recommended that you weigh yourself at the same time each day (eg. straight after waking up before going to the bathroom) to limit any large weight fluctuations and provide a more accurate weekly average.

Below are the options for tracking your daily weight. Each option comes with a description on how this method works, who it would work well for and any requirements.

Manual weight entry (Normal scales)

- Best for people with Android phones or iPhones (non IOS 13) -

Each morning after stepping on your scales a Google form will ask for your weight and track it in a Google sheet 

​

Requirements:

  • Any device that has an internet browser

  • Scales

Manual Weight entry (IOS Shortcut)

- Best for people with iPhones running IOS 13 -

When clicked, an icon on your home screen will ask you your morning weight and track it in a Google sheet

​

Requirements:

  • iPhone or iPad with IOS 13

  • Shortcuts app (instructions included in set-up)

  • IFTTT account (instructions included in set-up)

Manual weight entry (Body analysis scales)

- Best for those with non-Wifi Body Analysis scales -

After stepping on your scales a Google form will ask for your weight, body fat and lean mass and track it in the Google sheet

 

 Requirements

  • Body analysis scale 

  • Any device that has an internet browser

Withings Body Scales

- For users that have a Withings Body Scale -

​

After stepping on your scale your weight, body fat and lean mass will be automatically added to the Google sheet

​

Requirements

  • Withings Body Scale 

  • IFTTT account (instructions included in set-up)

Fitbit Aria Scales

- Best for people who use the Fitbit Aria scales - 

 

After stepping on your scales each morning your weight will be automatically tracked in the Google sheet

Requirements

  • Fitbit Aria Scales

  • IFTTT account (instructions included in set-up)

Google Assistant (Google Home)

- Best for people who own a Google Home or Google assistant enabled phone and want to use their voice to log their weight - 

​

Users can say "I weigh x kilograms" to a Google Home and their weight will be tracked in the Google sheet.

​

Requirements

  • Google Home or Google Assistant enabled device

  • IFTTT account (instructions included in set-up)

 

This can be used in conjunction with any of the methods above
