Google Form Sleep Duration

Set up Google Form

​

  1. Go to https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DQ0yVbe408CL6AJYOzyNt_TD1IRDnR-2

  2. Right click on the "Log_sleep" Google form

  3. Select "Make a copy" 

  4. Go to "My drive" and find "Copy of Log_weight" (You can move this into your Nutrition Tracking folder or leave it in "My Drive"

  5. Open "copy of Log_weight"

  6. Click on the "Responses" tab and then click on the three dots next to the green sheets icon.

  7. Click "Select response destination" -> "Select existing sheet" and then the blue select button.

  8. Choose your file named "sleep_rawdata" and click "Select"

  9. Back on your google form, select the three dots in the top right corner next to the send button and press "Preview"

  10. This will open to the page you will be inputting your sleep duration in.

  11. Type any number into this box to test the Google Form and then click "Submit.

  12. Go to your file "sleep_rawdata" (located in My Drive -> Nutrition Tracking -> rawdata)

  13. Check the number you inputted to test shows up under the "How long did you sleep for last night?" column.

  14. If the number is not there go back to your Google Form and re-select the "Response destination" (Steps 9-13)

  15. If the number you entered is under the "How long did you sleep for last night?" column, Click on the downwards pointing arrow on the right side of "Sheet1" and then press "Delete"

  16. Then Click on the downwards pointing arrow on the right side of "Form responses" and then click "Rename"

  17. Type in Sheet1 (without any spaces) and then press enter.

  18. Click on "Share" in the top-right corner and select "Get shareable link"

  19. Copy this URL and open your "Nutrition Tracking" google sheet (can be found in My drive -> Nutrition Tracking)

  20. Click on the "Settings" tab and paste the URL in the box adjacent to "sleep_rawdata"

​How to set the Google Form as an easily accessible button

 

  1. Go back to your "Log Sleep" Google form.

  2. Click "SEND" and select the link option on the right side of the mail icon. Below is your Google Form URL.

  3. Copy this URL and send it to the device you will have with you when you weigh yourself daily (i.e iPhone, Android device...).

  4. Go to https://www.howtogeek.com/196087/how-to-add-websites-to-the-home-screen-on-any-smartphone-or-tablet/ and complete the steps to add your Google Form URL to your chosen device home screen for easy access.

Your step tracking should now be set up. In the morning after waking up click the icon on your device to take you to your Google Form "Log Sleep". Type in how many hours you slept last night and press "Submit". Your sleep duration will be automatically logged into your Nutrition Tracking spreadsheet.
